The Rison School District began its second full week of classes Monday and unlike last year, School Superintendent Craig DuPuy said the district is not offering a virtual option this year, and classes are offered 100 percent on-campus only.

Appearing on the Oldies 101.3 morning show, Dupuy said on their best day last week, attendance was 659 but there were 10 to 12 other students who had been quarantined because of COVID-19 before the school year began.

He was also asked about a mask mandate in the district.

DuPuy went on to talk about the perception of wearing a mask and the impact it is making.

Teachers in the district received a $200 stipend for getting vaccinated and DuPuy said about 75 percent of the teachers had received at least one shot and some were getting their second shot this week.
