A Rison man was killed Sunday morning in a single vehicle crash on I-530 in Jefferson County, according to the Arkansas State Police.

According to the police report, 25-year-old Eric Leopard was killed as he was traveling northbound at Mile Marker 45 at 6:20 a.m. when the 2000 Ford he was driving veered into the median. The vehicle overturned several times before striking the cable barrier, ejecting Leopard according to the report.

Leopard was transported to Jefferson Regional hospital where he was pronounced deceased by a doctor at 7:55 a.m.

The Arkansas State Police say weather conditions were clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

To date there have been 496 fatalities on Arkansas highways in 2022, according to the report.
