A ribbon cutting took place Monday morning for the Dr. Josetta E. Wilkins Jefferson County Health Unit following nearly a year and a half worth of construction on the project.

The new unit, located at 3801 S. Hickory Street, completes the first public-private project in the State of Arkansas for a county health unit.

Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson spoke with Deltaplex News about the new health unit.

Robinson said that he heard many complaints about the condition of the old health unit, and knew he had to work to do something about it,

Robinson also spoke about Dr. Josetta E. Wilkins, and the decision to name the unit after her.
