Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has premiered the video for “Brand E,” a track off his upcoming solo album, Maya.

The sci-fi clip stars Frusciante as a character called “Observer,” who spends most of his time looking through binoculars at a Blade Runner-esque city. It also features an adorable cat in reference to the album’s title, which is named after Frusciante’s own beloved cat, who recently passed away.

You can watch the “Brand E” video streaming now on YouTube.

Maya is due out October 23. It’s described as Frusciante’s “first instrumental electronic album under his own name.”

Late last year, the Chili Peppers announced that Frusciante had returned to the band after a 10-year absence. He’d previously played with RHCP between 1988 and 1992, and from 1998 to 2009.

Frusciante’s return meant the departure of guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who’d been a member of the Peppers from 2009 to 2019. Klinghoffer’s since continued to release music with his solo project, Pluralone, which will release a new album called I Don’t Feel Well on October 16.
