A retired Sheridan teacher and coach was killed Tuesday when a vehicle backed into him while he was jogging.

According to a preliminary report from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, Roy Lamb, 67, was jogging behind a vehicle that was backing northbound on the southbound shoulder of the U.S. Highway 167 bypass at Shoemaker Road.

Lamb was struck by the vehicle and taken to U.A.M.S. where he died.

The accident was reported at 9:36 a.m. and was the 315th fatality on the state’s roads and highways this year.
