Renovations are underway at Lake Chicot State Park that include the temporary closing of the Delta Woodlands Trail.

According to the McGehee-Dermott Times News, the trail will be paved for better accessibility and improved durability. When completed, the trail will extend from the visitor center to the pavilion, allowing visitors to avoid walking on the highway form the pool to the visitor center.

The trail is expected to reopen in the spring.

The newspaper also reported that the old fish cleaning station has been torn down and is being replaced at the same location. It will include new equipment and similar features to the old station.

Other projects including campground and playground renovations are still in the design phase.
