The Arkansas Board of Apportionment has scheduled a redistricting information session for Jefferson and surrounding counties, according to a press release form the Mayor’s Office.

The informational session is an effort to educate the citizens of Jefferson and surrounding counties about the impact of the 2020 census data and the redistricting and redrawing of legislative district boundaries. As redistricting will have significant impact for our community, citizens are strongly encouraged to attend, learn about the process, and ask questions.

The session will be held at the Pine Bluff Convention Center from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The board is composed of representatives of the Governor’s Office, Secretary of State’ Office and the Attorney General’s Office. They have the responsibility to redraw legislative district boundaries for the Arkansas House and Senate. A deadline of Dec. 31 has been set for the completion of the new district boundaries.
