A Redfield woman was arrested Monday after state police stopped the truck she was driving for speeding, and she allegedly assaulted the trooper who stopped her while resisting arrest.

Sara Hedden, 38, reportedly had a handgun with the serial number filed off when police inventoried the vehicle before a wrecker towed it.

During a court hearing Wednesday, Deputy Prosecutor Lisa McGriff said Trooper Shane Caviness was patrolling on Interstate 530 when he saw a silver Chevrolet pickup approaching at a high rate of speed.

McGriff said that when the trooper approached the passenger side of the truck, he told Hedden he stopped her truck for speeding and she began to argue with him. He then said that speeding was not the only reason, explaining that she made unsafe lane changes.

When Hedden was asked for her license and proof of insurance she refused and said she would not provide the information until she was shown a video of the pursuit.

She was ordered to get out of the vehicle and Caviness reported that she yelled at him to shut up.

McGriff said when troopers searched the vehicle, they found 2 firearms including an after-market Glock 19 with the serial number removed.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 bond for Hedden after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge her with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. Possession of a defaced firearm, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental operations.
