Due to the recent natural disaster occurrence in Louisiana because of Hurricane Ida, New Orleans and surrounding areas were affected drastically. The U.S. military and organizations such as Red Cross have been called to assist the citizens that have been impacted. On Wednesday, September 1st Lori Arnold who serves the central and southern parts of Arkansas joined Deltaplex on Oldies 101.3 and explained how Red Cross is assisting those affected due to the disaster.

Arnold also spoke about the other states that Red Cross has provided support due to other disasters that have occurred over the last year.

Arnold added that 95% of the Red Cross workforce are volunteers that want to assist in helping others. Red Cross prepares these volunteers through training for disaster relief and other relief efforts that occur locally like home fires.

In regards to the immediate needs, Red Cross provides financial assistance to the citizens that need relief. Arnold also told Deltaplex about receiving various donors and assistance through partnerships to provide the assistance that the organization offers to citizens.
