Arkansas State Police are investigating the death of a Wrightsville Unit inmate who died Sunday morning after an assault by another inmate.

The incident, which happened just after 8:30 a.m., in one of the barracks, involved no weapons. Officials say Albert Williams, 50, collapsed while being escorted to the unit’s infirmary for treatment.

The press release says medical personnel staff was unable to revive him after repeated attempts. Authorities say it’s suspected that Williams suffered a fatal heart attack. His body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death.

Williams was serving a 35-year sentence for 20 convictions from Sebastian County.
