Jhené Aiko and her longtime partner Big Sean released their duo album, Twenty88, in 2016. Now they have a very personal collaboration on the way — a baby. They confirmed the news earlier this month and on July 15, Jhené posted a nude maternity photo on Instagram.

Fans have been asking for a sequel to Twenty88, and the six-time Grammy nominee says she and Sean are looking forward to the follow-up.

“[The sequel] is something that we both really enjoy because we get to do things outside of what we normally do with our own music and albums,” Jhené tells Billboard.

It’s been over two years since Jhené released her third solo album, Chilombo. After releasing three tracks in 2021 — “Wrap Me Up,” “By Yourself” with Ty Dolla $ign and “In The Dark” with Swae Lee  she has not dropped more new music. However, Jhené did have one very high-profile appearance this year, performing “America the Beautiful” at the Super Bowl in Inglewood, California.

Her baby with Big Sean will be her second child following her 13-year-old daughter, Namiko Love, with singer O’Ryan.

When Namiko was in elementary school in 2008, Jhené was featured with Chris Brown on Omarion’s triple Platinum hit “Post to Be.” She remembers she recorded a line for the song that was not suitable for children.

“[Radio] didn’t bleep out ‘eat the booty like groceries,’” Aiko recalls. “The kids were snickering. I was so embarrassed, because I wasn’t thinking on the scale of, ‘This is on the radio and kids are hearing this,"” Jhené said. “She knows that I’m super silly, but I have to be more responsible and I want to make sure I don’t embarrass her.”
