An eight-year-old boy was shot in the early morning hours Thursday and Pine Bluff Police are continuing their investigation.
The child reportedly received a gunshot wound to the stomach area and was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital by ambulance.
According to the police report, the incident occurred at a residence in the 1200 block of West 19th Ave., at about 1:18 a.m.
The child’s mother told police the child and another child, age 3, were in the living room watching television when she heard gunshots outside the residence, then heard her son screaming. She also said she and the two children were the only people in the house at the time.
Police reported there was damage to the front window on the southwest corner hf the house and damage to the interior wall of the house.
