The Pine Bluff Police Department is in the early stages of a homicide investigation.
At about 10:40 p.m. officers were dispatched to a shooting in the residence of 210 W. 18th. The officers made contact with the homeowner and located a male in the residence. The male was deceased from a single gunshot wound.
At this time, it appears that the homeowner shot a burglar in their home. An update will be made if any charges are filed.
The deceased has not been positively identified as of the time of this release. An update will be made once the deceased has been positively identified and family notified.
The body will be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death. This will be the 20th homicide for Pine Bluff in 2021.
