A Pine Bluff woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident on I-530 in the early morning hours Saturday.

According to a preliminary report, Shanta Williams, 36, was southbound approaching mile marker 35 when she lost control of the 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche, she was driving. The vehicle veered to the right and onto the shoulder where it struck the guardrail face with the left front bumper then overturned and rotated 180 degrees, landing on the passenger side.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident was reported at 2:10 a.m. and the death was the 231st so far this year on the state’s highways.
