PINE BLUFF, Ark.— In February, the Pine Bluff Historic District Commission of the City of Pine Bluff, Arkansas approved a Certificate of Appropriateness for the Pine Bluff Urban Renewal Agency (“PBURA”) to begin the renovation and restoration of certain properties on the west side of the 300 block of Main Street.

On Sunday, the PBURA released a bid announcement seeking a general contractor to manage the renovation and restoration efforts. “The restoration of these properties will serve as a catalyst for the overall revitalization efforts in downtown. We are working with the Pine Bluff Construction and Trade Alliance to ensure local sub-contractors are able to work on this project,” said Executive Director Maurice Taggart

On-going downtown efforts are a product of the Re-Live Downtown Masterplan and Vision and a promise made by Mayor Shirley Washington to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Pine Bluff.

She commented on the efforts earlier this week. “This project is another example of the progress being made in downtown and surrounding areas. It will further demonstrate the City’s commitment to do its part to make the downtown area walkable, livable and an enjoyable place to reside,” said Washington.
