The Walgreens Flu Index has ranked Pine Bluff and Little Rock as the third most active areas for flu activity. The top area in the nation is Oklahoma City with Pine Bluff and Little Rock falling close behind. The best way to prevent the flu is getting vaccinated each year. You can also put up a fight against the virus by practicing good health habits such as covering your mouth when you cough, washing your hands and avoiding the touch of your eyes, nose and mouth.

Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces in your household or workplace may also limit your chances of catching the flu, especially if someone around you is already ill. Getting plenty of rest, being physically active, managing stress, drinking plenty of fluids and eating nutritious foods will also limit your risk.  If you feel yourself becoming ill, simply stay at home to lower the risk of spreading the virus to others. Do not send your child to school if he or she is feeling ill. This will lower the risk of spreading the virus to other children.

Data for the Walgreens Flu Index is analyzed at state and geographic market levels to measure the absolute impact.
