Pine Bluff Police are getting more aggressive in their efforts to get guns off the street, according to interim police chief Lloyd Franklin Sr.
Appearing on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Wednesday, Franklin was asked if the department had “kicked it up.”
He was asked specifically about the arrest of Akyell Madison, 16, who was the starting quarterback for Watson Chapel and has been accused of using an automatic weapon to fire shots at houses while riding in a vehicle. Madison is being charged as an adult.
Regarding that assistance, Franklin was asked if his department and the sheriff’s department are working together more now, particularly in dealing with juvenile offenders.
He also cited another arrest by deputies, that of a 14-year-old female student at Watson Chapel Junior High who was seen on social media threatening to kill other students. Franklin said the girl was “holding a machine gun” when she made the threats.
