The Pine Bluff Police Department is in the early stages of a homicide investigation.
Just before 5:00 A.M., officers responded to 3702 W. Short 2nd in reference to a shooting, where they made contact with the 18-year-old male victim, Christian Mayzes.
Mayzes stated that he was at a club at 218 S. Blake when he was shot. The victim lost consciousness after telling the officers where he was when he was shot.
EASi ambulance service transported the victim to Jefferson Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 6:04 A.M.
The body will be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death. This will be the 21st homicide for Pine Bluff in 2021.
