UPDATE:

On May 20, 2023, at approximately 1:33 AM, Officers observed a gray Toyota van run a red light at a high rate of speed at Harding and Olive. Officers noticed several males exit the vehicle and say their friend was shot. The Officers followed the vehicle to JRMC ER where the males advised the incident occurred at The Spot at 111 West 5th Avenue.  Other officers then responded to 111 W. 5th and located a crime scene on Pine St. between 4th and 5th Avenues to the west of “The Spot”.

There were two 17-year-old male juveniles shot and one 18-year-old male adult who was struck by a vehicle. One juvenile sustained asevere gunshot wound and pronounced dead at Arkansas Children’s Hospital at 4:38 AM. The Pulaski County Coroner Office notified his body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy for official cause and manner of death.

The other juvenile sustained non-life-threatening injuries. 18-year-old Kyrone Sims Jr. was struck by the victim vehicle while fleeing from the shooting. Sims sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his face and right eye.

The Pine Bluff Police Department is in the early stages of a homicide investigation after two people were shot, one fatally, and a third person was struck by a moving car at 111 West 5th Street at The Spot.

Law enforcement sources have confirmed to Deltaplex News that the homicide victim was a 17-year-old Watson Chapel graduate . The victim was transported to a Little Rock hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during the night.

The Pine Bluff Police Department is offering a $2,500 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in this matter.
