The City of Pine Bluff held a unity walk and prayer vigil Thursday night in front of the Pine Bluff Police Department in honor of Deputy Kevin Collins, who was tragically killed Monday while investigating a murder suspect at the Econo Lodge on North Blake Street.

A crowd of approximately 300 people were on hand to participate in the walk and prayer for law enforcement as a group of officers gathered in front of the police department entrance for the closing moments of the event.

Following the event Pine Bluff Police Chief Kelvin Sergeant spoke with DeltaplexNews.com to discuss how his department is handling the loss of one of their own.

A lot has been said in recent days about how good of a police officer Collins was during his career, but Sergeant said he was an even better person.

Sergeant also stated that grief counselors have been brought in to assist any officers who may need it during this time of grief.

19-year-old Keshone Quantarious Smith has been charged with Capital Murder in this case.

Below you will find a short video and photos from the event.
