On September 10, 2024, at approximately 8:43 p.m., Officers were dispatched to the area of Pennsylvania and East Harding Avenue, in reference to a pedestrian accident. Officers arrived on scene and noticed EASI Ambulance, Pine Bluff Fire, and a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy already on scene and rendering aid to an unresponsive black male lying in the roadway.
Officers talked to the driver of the passenger car who stated he was traveling west on East Harding Avenue when someone walked out in front of his vehicle between Pennsylvania and Florida Street.
Officers took the driver of the passenger car to W. C. Dub Brassell Detention Center to have his blood alcohol content checked. It was later determined that he was not under the influence of alcohol and was released.
EASI Ambulance later transported the black male to Jefferson Regional Medical Center but his injuries were too severe causing him to pass away after arriving at JRMC.
