Pine Bluff man arrested on theft allegation

A police investigation into a reported employee theft resulted in the arrest Wednesday of a Pine Bluff man.

Carlos Pugh, 45 was taken into custody after police were sent to Kiswire at 10:30 am. Officers were told Pugh had stolen over $2,000 worth of copper nuggets.

During a court hearing Thursday, Deputy Prosecutor Beth Carson explained the circumstances that led to the arrest.

Detective Keith Banks reported that Pugh said there were more copper nuggets behind his house but when officers went there, they only found one. Several more were found in his locker at work.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with theft by receiving. Pugh was told to come back to court on Nov. 15.
