A $2,500 bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man accused of having a handgun that had been reported stolen last year.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Travayan Lindsey, 21, with theft by receiving.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from Detective Chris Wieland, Deputy Prosecutor Lisa McGriff said police were patrolling the area of Barraque and Hutchinson Street Tuesday with they conducted a traffic stop on a whiter 2010 Ford Mustang that was being driven left of center.

When Lindsey was initially questioned, he said he had bought the gun at Hunter’s Refuge and when he was told that was impossible, he said he had bought the gun from a former girlfriend’s cousin that he knew as L.J. He said he paid $400 for the gun.

Lindsey said he would hire his own attorney.
