A $35,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man previously convicted of two felonies after police found a gun in the vehicle the man was driving.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Tarants Carter, 29, with being a felon in possible of a firearm.

Reading from an affidavit from Detective Sgt. Michael Roberts, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said on Tuesday at 9:34 p.m. police were in the area of Harding Avenue and Beech Street when they saw a vehicle that had non-functioning headlights and they conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Tarrants Carter.

King said when Carter was questioned, he admitted to having had the gun for about three months.

Carter was told to come back to court on June 21.
