A 35-year-old Pine Bluff man was arrested Saturday after he led police on a high-speed chase while riding a motorcycle.

Brandon George was taken into custody after the engine on the motorcycle he was riding apparently had problems, Deputy Prosecutor Caleb Conrad said during a court hearing Monday.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Detective Jason Boykin, Lt. David DeFoor, and Sgt. Richard Wegner was in the area of South Olive and Main Street when they saw the motorcycle which had no license plate and they attempted a traffic stop.

Conrad described what happened next.

Boykin said in the affidavit that when he asked George why he didn’t stop, George reportedly said he wanted to “see if he could outrun the police.”

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 bond for George after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with felony fleeing. George said he would hire his own attorney.
