A reported armed disturbance on Lowman Road Friday afternoon resulted in the arrest of a Pine Bluff man who allegedly pointed a handgun at his father-in-law during an altercation.

Robert Arnett, 24, allegedly got into an argument with his wife and took their child before bringing the child back and leaving a second time.

During a court hearing Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Jay Gerard said Arnett called the sheriff’s office and arranged to meet Investigator Terry Wingard on the parking lot of a church where he made the following statement.

Another deputy arrived before Wingard and took possession of a nine-millimeter handgun loaded with 15 rounds.

When Wingard interviewed Arnett’s father-in-law, he said he saw the argument and went outside where Arnett pointed a pistol at him and said if he got arrested, he would come back and kill the father-in-law.

Gerard said later that day, investigators received a five-second video from Arnett’s wife.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $5,000 bond for Arnett after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault on a family or household member. Arnett was ordered to have no contact with his wife or father-in-law until the case is settled. He said he would hire his own attorney.
