The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library System announces the closure of the Main Library located in the Civic Center and the Altheimer Library located in Altheimer due to health concerns. The other branches remain closed for renovation. The health situation will be closely monitored and an announcement made as soon as it becomes safe to reopen library doors.

In this time when government officials are calling for people to stay home, the library wants to help ensure people have access to library services even though the facilities will be closed. There are electronic resources available with the possession of a library card. Hoopla gives access to movies, e-books, magazines, music, tv shows, and comics. Libby gives access to e-books and audiobooks. Help setting up the accounts is available by calling the library.

People may call 870-534-4802 to request books for pick up outside the Main Library location between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm. They will need their library card number and code which library staff will explain. No DVDs will be checked out. Books will have extended due dates and overdue fines will not be charged if items are returned when the library reopens.

Books may be returned to any branch library through book returns. Watson Chapel and Redfield have a new book return installed.

Electronic library cards may be obtained for check out of e-materials by calling the library. These cards will work only for electronic materials and will need to be updated to a regular library card once the library reopens.

We ask for your patience during these trying times. Please explore the resources available online to continue to have access to books, magazines, and movies.
