Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Chief Shauwn Howell said Tuesday that low water pressure in the city could hamper the department’s efforts to fight fires, particularly large ones.

Howell said in events like that, the department has gotten help from volunteer fire departments who have water trucks which can contain up to 2,000 gallons of water.

“It’s like a little assembly line,” Howell said. “It’s a lot of trucks and a lot of work to keep it going but they still have to have a water source to keep it going.”

On another subject, Howell was asked about the department’s role in locating water leaks in various buildings in the city.

On Monday, Wendy Talbot, a spokeswoman for Jefferson Regional Hospital told Deltaplex News that the fire department has been very helpful in providing water to keep the hospital’s boilers operating and Howell was asked about that.
