City officials in Pine Bluff signed closing documents Thursday to finalize financing and to move forward with the construction of $24 million Courtyard by Marriott hotel being built at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

The City of Pine Bluff will provide $2.91534 million from sales tax revenue for the construction of the hotel. Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington said this is just another project that has been completed during her time as Mayor.

Washington said that the hotel will help draw people to downtown Pine Bluff.

There are events that are already happening in Pine Bluff that can take advantage of a new hotel, according to Washington.

An official groundbreaking for the beginning of hotel construction will be announced soon.
