By a vote of 6-1, the Pine Bluff City Council on Monday approved the reappointment of one member of the Urban Renewal Agency Board and the appointment of a second to fill an unexpired term.
The Urban Renewal Agency was one of the programs created by the Go Forward Pine Bluff initiative but Go Forward is winding down but Council Member Lloyd Holcomb Jr., told Deltaplex News the Urban Renewal Agency will survive.
Council member Steven Mays cast the only no vote and Council Member Lanette Frazier was absent as Holcomb and Council Members Glen Brown Jr, Glen Brown Sr., Steven Shaner, Bruce Lockett and Latisha Brunson voted to reappoint Jimmy Dill to a three-year term starting Jan. 1, 2025 and ending Dec. 31, 2028, and appoint Nancy Lee McNew to fill the remainder of the term of Lynn Long Guynn. McNew will serve until Sept. 30, 2026.
Holcomb said this about the two appointees.
Also Monday the Council voted to appoint Clarence Holman, Sherita A. Womack Clifton, Joyce M. Scott and Krystal Nicole Stafford to the Civic Auditorium Complex Commission. All four appointments are new to the commission.
