Two appointments to the Pine Bluff Advertising and Promotions Committee that were on the agenda for the Pine Bluff City Council Monday night were tabled, sparking a spirited discussion about the entire system of city boards and commissions, and appointments to those boards and commissions.
Council member Joni Alexander appeared on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Tuesday and talked about those commissions and efforts to find out what those boards and commissions do, and who is on them.
Alexander said there are some boards and commissions whose members terms have been expired for two or three years and who are still serving.
There are close to a dozen boards and commissions, including the Historic District Commission, of which Will Jenkins is a member, and he reminded Alexander of the efforts by her employer, FBT, to redo an office space in the downtown area.
Alexander also talked about a non-member of the commission who has influenced decisions by the commission.
Jenkins brought up the efforts to transform an area on Main Street into a new school and he and Alexander discussed the holdup to those plans.
