PBPD Chief Kelvin Sergeant addresses Sunday morning mass shooting

As Pine Bluff Police continue their investigation into a shooting incident on the parking lot of the Circle N Convenience store in the early morning hours Sunday, Police Chief Kelvin Sergeant said officers attempted to clear the lot earlier but were met with resistance by the store’s owner.

Appearing on Oldies 101.3, Sergeant said the resistance from the store owner presented a challenge.

Seven people were wounded by gunfire and Sergeant said two of those received injuries that were considered serious while a third was taken to a Little Rock hospital for more intensive care.

The initial investigation indicated that a fight broke out on the parking lot between two individuals with one person hitting the other. He said both individuals pulled out guns and started shooting at each other and then several other individuals pulled guns and stared shooting.

Sergeant also talked about the individuals involved In the incident and in car racing and similar traffic related problems associated with the group.
