Pine Bluff School District Superintendent Barbara Warren has been sued under provisions of the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act.

According to the complaint filed in Pulaski County Circuit Court Thursday, Amelia Lafont submitted an FOIA request on March 3, asking for all invoices received for legal services and records of each payment such as checks or ledger entries for all payments for legal service between Jan. 1, 2021 to Jan. 31, 2022.

The complaint said Warren did not respond to the request and a second request was sent, this time on March 9. That request said a response “was due yesterday. Please provide these records immiediately.”

The complaint went on to say that Lafont attempted to contact Warren by phone but was unsuccessful and said Warren’s assistant would not respond to any inquiry or take a message, demanding that Lafont identify the organization she represented and hanging up on Lafont twice.

The complaint said the records requested are subject to public disclosure and at no time did Warren say they were exempt from the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.

Lafont is asking the court to order Warren to provide the requested records and pay all costs and attorney fees associated with the case.
