PB City Council approved request from Chief Richardson

The Pine Bluff City Council on Tuesday approved a request from Police Chief Denise Richardson to add two civilian employees to the department.

The resolution created the positions of Administrative Coordinator and Public Information Specialist and Council member Lloyd Holcomb Jr., chairman of the Administrative Committee, said the positions had been discussed by his committee.

According to the job description, the Public Information Specialist will, among other things, will be responsible for web maintenance and social media, public relations and all digital media needs of the department.

In other business, the council approved several budget adjustments including one for $590,584 for the Delta Rhythm and Bayou’s project. Those funds will come from the five-eights cent sales tax commonly called the Go Forward sales tax.

Also approved was a resolution authorizing the Mayor to contact with Powers Mechanical Service Company to replace the main HVAC unit at the Main Fire Station. Powers was the only company to submit a bid for the project which will cost the city $159,906.28.
