City of Pine Bluff Code Enforcement Director Patrick Lockett made history Tuesday as he became the first person elected to the Pine Bluff School Board after the state returned control of the district to the local community.
When that happened, a limited authority board was selected by the state to assist Superintendent Jennifer Barbaree until elections could be held.
Lockett defeated retired teacher Charlene Wright by just over 200 votes, 999 to 762 in complete but unofficial results.
On Wednesday, Lockett was asked what made him want to get involved and run for the board.
Lockett appeared on the Oldies 1013 Morning Show where host Greg Horne said Wright had been very critical of Barbaree while he had not heard that from Lockett. Horne then asked Lockett if he was happy with the way the district was going under Barbaree.
