The Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation Department is continuing its search for a greens superintendent at the Jaycee Golf Course after a person who had been offered the job turned it down.

At a meeting of the City Council’s Public Works Committee, Council member and committee chairman Ivan Whitfield asked Parks and Recreation Director Samuel Glover for an update on the position.

Glover said another application has been received but that applicant, while they have other qualifications, is not familiar with the sport of golf. He went on to say that parks and rec do currently have someone who is doing the job.

Whitfield said if parks and rec don’t find someone soon, they might take another look at the job description for the position. He said the job description included not only greens superintendent at the golf course but also cutting grass at other parks.

He said sometimes adding duties causes fewer people to apply for a position.
