Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation has put a lot of work into different facilities within the city over the past couple of years in order to provide clean and safe recreational facilities for area citizens, and they continue to work on improvements around the city.

Director Sam Glover spoke with Deltaplex News recently to discuss the Pine Bluff Community Center that has recently been renovated. There are several clubs and events being hosted for local children currently, and Glover says there is room for more to be added to the schedule.

Glover said there are steps that must be taken in order to host a club, to include background checks and a contract guaranteeing club organizers will not damage the facilities.

The Community Center provides more than just athletic programs. There is a computer lab, a studio, teaching kitchen, and more. Glover said they were very intentional about the design and how the facility would be used.

A lot of work is taking place at the Regional Park softball fields as well. Glover said that they are working from the inside, out, beginning with rehabilitation of the concession stands and other areas that were damaged by flood waters, and that haven’t been updated in at least 20 years.

Golfers will begin seeing upgrades to the greens at both Harbor Oaks Golf Course and the Jaycee Memorial Golf Course very soon. Glover says local golfers will soon see TifEagle greens put into place.
