One person was killed and a second injured in a two-vehicle accident in Conway Saturday.
According to a preliminary report, a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling east on Interstate 40 struck the rear of another vehicle before running off the southside of the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree and then caught fire and a passenger in the car, identified as Miesha Webb, 41, of Ft. Smith was killed.
The driver of the car, identified as Derrick L. Thomas, 42, of Conway was able to get out and was taken to a hospital at Conway.
The vehicle that was struck left the scene and no information was available on the report about it
The death was the 545th so far this year on the state’s highways.
