One Desha County escapee arrested after escaping a second time; Search continues for second escapee

UPDATE:

A few minutes ago, Marceese Watkins was arrested for escape, a second time. He was found in Dermott after a joint effort from area Law Enforcement Agencies.

He was taken into Custody by State Trooper Ty Grant, after a vehicle and foot pursuit.

Agencies included the McGehee Police Department, Desha County Sheriff’s Office, Chicot County Sheriff’s Office, Dermott Police Department, and the Arkansas State Police.

UPDATE: Marceese Watkins has escaped for a second time from the McGehee City Jail after escaping and being captured on Friday night.

He escaped a second time on Saturday, stealing the car of a jailer to get away. The car has been located, but Watkins has not.

The search for Dewight Overbee is also still ongoing.

UPDATE: The Desha County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that Marceese Watkins is in custody.

Two inmates have escaped from the McGehee City Jail according to a press release from the Desha County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the release, the two inmates escaped shortly after 10 p.m. Friday night.

Officers from the McGehee Police Department, Desha County Sheriff’s Office, Dumas Police Department, and the Arkansas State Police are on scene.

Arkansas Department of Corrections tracking dogs are enroute.

The inmates are felons waiting bed space in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

They are not believed to be armed, according to the release.

Their names are Dewight Overbea and Marceese Watkins.
