Virginia Ophelia Van Horn Place, 96, of Gillett, passed away August 28, 2024. She was born April 17, 1928, in Tichnor to George Luther and Vera Mae Van Horn.
Viriginia worked for 40 years at Central Hardware in Gillett and was a member of First Baptist Church in Gillett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Homer Place, Sr.; siblings Virgil, Winford, and Doris and two half sisters.
Virginia is survived by her sons Homer "Jack" Place, Jr. (Sharon) of White Hall and George A. "Tony" Place of Gillett; two grandchildren Andrea Place and Jason Place (Jennifer); three great grandchildren Kenzie McDaniel (Landon), Chloe Place, and Paisley Place; one great great grandchild Truett McDaniel; one brother Ragie Van Horn (Sandra) of Gillett; and one sister-in-law Norma Jean Van Horn of DeWitt.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. August 31 at First Baptist Church of Gillett with funeral services beginning at 11:00. Burial will follow in Gillett Cemetery.
