1960-2024
Rodney Dale “Dreamer” Lybrand of Sheridan, Arkansas was born January 22, 1960 in Eureka, California, the son of the late Odell and Vera Dee Sketoe Lybrand. He was owner/operator of Lybrand’s Trucking, known to many truckers by his CB handle “Dreamer”, but trucking was just a small part of what he did. Noah was probably the only one who had more types of animals than Rodney. Over the years, the list of various animals and birds he’s raised has been extensive, including but not limited to, pigs, rabbits, quail, goats, donkeys and so on. He didn’t just raise one or two at a time either. He would get many of them and the numbers would naturally increase from there. For the past number of years, his main animal focus has been on hog farming. He supported the FFA organization and strongly believed in the value of a young boy or girl raising their own pig and showing it. Regardless of their financial ability, Rodney made sure they could afford one of his pigs, even if he felt God telling him to just give it to them. Countless numbers of young people, many now adults, learned responsibility, accountability, patience and pride, just because Rodney cared enough to invest in their lives. Also, he was born into a family of bakers, and he continued their legacy. He owned several bakeries over the years, and he had quite a gift for it. His cinnamon rolls and pecan pies were legendary. His family was his world and he did everything he did just to add to their lives. Most importantly, He had a deep, abiding love for Jesus and His word, and tried to live his life, pointing people to his Lord and Savior.
Rodney went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, September 7, 2024 at his home doing what he loved, spending time with his wife and working with his animals. He was 64.
