Rev. Louis Meadows Jr was born November 3, 1934, at Yancopin, AR to the late Louis Meadows Sr and Mary Felix Meadows. He departed this life Monday, August 12, 2024, at his home in McGehee, AR.
He attended school at Yancopin, Watson Colored School, and Reed School at Dumas. He received hours from Pines Vo-tech McGehee and the University of Arkansas Monticello. Rev. Meadows also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in religious studies from Morris Booker College.
At the age of eleven, he accepted Christ and united with the Oak Grove MBC under the leadership of Rev. J. F. Farris where he was trained to become Secretary of the Sunday School Department. The family later moved to Watson, AR where Rev. Meadows spent most of his teenage and young adult years.
He later united with the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Superintendent and Secretary of the Sunday School Department under the leadership of Rev. I. C. Coleman.
He began his gospel ministry in 1964 and was ordained June 5, 1966. During his ministry, he has pastored Morning Star MBC Watson, AR, Zion Travelers Gaines Landing, Bethlehem MBC Pickens, AR, Portland #2 MBC Portland, AR, St. Marion MBC Sunshine, AR, Rose Hill MBC Dermott, AR, and Brown Temple MBC Portland, AR. He spent much of his ministry at Rose Hill and became active in the Southeast District Baptist Association.
Rev. Meadows served as secretary of Southeast District Association, Associate Dean and Dean of Southeast District Congress of Christian Education. He also served as Board of Directors for KATES McGehee Training Tree, Board member of Morris Booker Memorial College, and a member of the school board for McGehee Public Schools where he later was a substitute teacher.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 44 years Barbara Meadows. Five sons: EJ Bankston of Arlington, Texas, Robert (Renita) Meadows of Detroit, Michigan, Michael (Felicia) Meadows of Ruskin, Florida, Jeffery Hilson of Sonora, California, Marcus (Dashe) Hilson of Stafford, Virginia. five daughters: Frankie Beverley of Monticello, Arkansas, Mary Meadows of McGehee, Arkansas, Beverly Meadows of Detroit, Michigan, Miriam Meadows of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Michaela Meadows of Sherwood, Arkansas. One brother: Howard T. Meadows of Watson, Arkansas, 25 plus grandchildren, 18 plus great-grandchildren, 3 plus great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2024, at McGehee Chapel Missionary Baptist Church McGehee, AR by Rev. Robert Willis, Jr. Interment in Lincoln Memorial Lawn Varner, AR by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff, AR. His body will lie in-state from 10:15 a.m. until service time.
