1933-2024
Rachel O’Mary Watson of Sheridan, Arkansas was born August 16, 1933 in Hampton, the daughter of the late John Madison O’Mary and Dora Dodd O’Mary. She was an active member of First Landmark Baptist Church, where she served with the Food Committee and the F.R.O. G. Sunday School Class. She graduated Hampton High School in 1951 and was retired for AP&L after 30 years of service as Senior Clerk.
Rachel enjoyed flowers, work, taking care of others, and being a grandmother.
Rachel died Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at St Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock at the age of 91.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of almost 69 years, John C. Watson; and her siblings, Lesta Gorman (Edward), George O’Mary, Thomas O’Mary, Simmie O’Mary (Estelle) , Noah O’Mary (Dee) Marion O’Mary (Nell), Ilene Wages (Olan), Sally Gentry (Ed), Ruby Lookadoo (Emmett); great grandchild, Alyssa Greenwell.
Survivors: son, Johnny Watson of East End; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ronnie Barker of Bryant; 4 grandchildren, Adam Barker, Jared Barker, Andy Barker, Wendy Ramsey; 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and many friends and neighbors.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., September 14, 2024 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Shawn Hill and Bro. DeHaan Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
Pallbearers are Russell Waddle, Joe Lynn Waddle, Jared Barker, Adam Barker, Andy Barker and Eddy Easley. Honorary pallbearers are Wes Kerr, Randy Mooney, Ronnie Nutt, Butch Campbell, and Gary Don Easley.
