Mae Jane Clark, 74
1950-2024

Mae Jane Smith-Clark was born on January 19, 1950, in Backgate, Arkansas, to the late James Smith Sr. and Frances Jackson Smith. She passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in Ville Platt, Louisiana.

Mae Jane received her education at Reed High School and later joined the United States Army, where she served in Vietnam. After her military service, she was employed by the Pine Bluff Arsenal, where she worked diligently until her retirement.

She was married to the late Albert Clark Sr., and together they had four children. Mae Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Clark Sr.; her parents, James and Frances Smith; two sons, James and Albert Clark Jr.; three brothers, Eddie, Eugene, and Henry Smith; and three sisters, AB Brooks, Earnestine Smith, and Ronea Smith.

She is survived by her son, Courland Clark, and her daughter, Ardelia Clark, both of Dumas, Arkansas; four brothers, James Smith Jr. of Ville Platt, Louisiana, Oscar (Rose) Smith of Tupelo, Mississippi, Melvin Smith of Dumas, Arkansas, and Frank (Brenda) Smith of Arkansas City, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jahwon Clark and Raven Clark; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory.
