1938-20247
Katheryn L. Smith- Langston of Garner went to be with her Lord and savior on September 20, 2024 after a month long illness. Katheryn was born June 6, 1938 to Clyde and Honor Blount of Garner. She was the oldest of eight children.
Katheryn was a beloved companion and mother. She devoted her life to raising children and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a graduate of Beebe High School. A retired factory worker where she worked her way up to shipping manager. Katheryn served on the City Council for Garner. Represented her city on the SEWCO water board and worked many years to save and restore the Garner Gym where she attended school. Katheryn enjoyed painting, did crafts, telling stories, visiting with friends, and above all else she loved talking to anyone she could about the love of Jesus. Katheryn was raised in the Methodist Church at Garner. Later she was a member of Garner Baptist Church where she was baptized. Later her and James started attending the New Beginning Church in Searcy pastored by Keith Roberson. Here they found a warm small group of believers to study and fellowship with. Katheryn always believed it’s not the church affiliation that matters. It’s believing and trusting in Jesus. She always said John 3:16 says it all.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Patsy (Troy) Williams, Forest (Patricia) Blount and Russell Blount, and one son in law, Otis Barnes.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving companion, James Langston, children, Kathy Barnes of Garner, Doug (Gina) Langston, Ricky (Christy) Langston of Vinity, and Wayne (Kristie) Langston of Mississippi.
