1962-2024

Elizabeth (Libby) Lucretia Hocking Cox- Snyder, 62, of Crocketts Bluff, AR, passed away at her home November 20, 2024. She was born August 9, 1962, in Cherry Point, NC to SSgt. Richard Edward Hocking, Sr. of Dumas and Faye Anne Cates of Watson.

Libby was born and grew up as a military baby until she was seven when she lost her father during the Vietnam War. She ended up in Desha County where her parents roots were, 8 generations of her mother's side of the family in Watson and 7 generations of her father's in Dumas. She was proud to say she was from Desha County.

She graduated from UAM with a degree in psychology. Libby worked the majority of her career in child welfare with the Department of Human Services and the Arkansas State Police helping to ensure the safety of our children in Arkansas. She worked for 30 years in this field and was very proud of that accomplishment.

Libby was a member of the Watson United Methodist Church where her parents were married and her grandmother taught Sunday School. Her life was groomed from an early age to have God in her life and she always prayed and faith in God. She hoped and prayed for the good in others and the safety of her family.

She loved doing things with her children and grandchildren. She loved working in the yard and gardening, fishing, spending time on the river, and cooking for others before her health prevented her from doing it.

Libby is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard E. Hocking, Jr.

She is survived by her husband Richard D. Snyder of Crocketts Bluff; children David Cox of Watson, Drake Snyder of Star City, Kimber Cox of Dumas, and Jessie Snyder of Star City; and grandchildren Bradlee Cox of Dumas, Enslee Lenderman of Dumas, Tynleigh Snyder of Star City, Leelyn Cox of McGehee, Rhett and Knox Snyder of Star City, and Braxton Martin of Star City. She is also survived by her brothers Louis P. Hocking of Monticello and Alexander B. Martin of Tampa, FL; sister Dolly Dicken of New Orleans, LA; a special niece Cheyenne Hocking Scogins of Greenbriar; and her animals Gomer, Rinky, and Dink.

Libby was most proud of her children and grandchildren. Libby would like everyone to remember that life is short and to live everyday like it was your last, to be helpful to others rather than putting your own needs in front of others, and to be kind.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 30 at 2:00 at Essex Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemtery.
