1947-2024
Horace David Studdard was born October 12, 1947, in Pine Bluff to Horace Wilson Studdard and Vivian Green Studdard. He was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. David began working at Cotton Belt Railroad (later Union Pacific) and retired as a carman and inspector. He was lovingly called “Muff” by his friends at the railroad. David was a member of Sardis Missionary Baptist Church and also attended Watson Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and recreational shooting. David was a most kind, generous man, and would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need.
David passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the age of 76, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Ford Studdard, whom he married August 5, 1966, in Pine Bluff. He will also be missed by his children, David Studdard, Amy Rushing and husband, Kevin, and Marcie Hamblin and husband, James; his only sister, Edith Spharler and husband, Delmon; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private services were held at the family home. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the care of Robinson and Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel.
The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
