No. 6 Razorbacks defeat UCA in Walk-Off Fashion

Softball Seniors Thankful for 2021 Season | Arkansas Razorbacks

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 6 Arkansas Razorbacks softball team chalked up another win in dramatic fashion, knocking off the University of Central Arkansas 7-6.  Braxton Burnside’s nation-leading 23rd home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth inning was the push the Lady Hogs needed for the walk-off win over Central Arkansas at Bogle Park last night. Linnie Malkin had another multi-home run night, blasting two in a game for the second time this season and going 3 for 3 with four RBIs.

Arkansas struck first on a three run shot by Designated player Linnie Malkin in the first inning while scoring twice more to take an early lead. The Sugar Bears would fight back pulling within 3 by the fifth inning. Malkin’s second homerun of the night would extend the lead to three. The Bears would once again answer, scoring a run in the sixth, and three runs in the bottom of the seventh to push the game into extra innings. The Burnside heroics kicked in, as she launched a walk-off solo homerun to give the Hogs the one point victory.

Jenna Bloom pitched 4.1 innings in the circle for the Razorbacks, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 2 base on balls and striking out 7. Mary Happ recieved the win with 3.2 innings of work.

The Lady Hogs will host Missouri in its final home series of the regular season starting Saturday, April 24th through Monday April 26th, observing Senior Day on Sunday, April 25th.
