The Sheridan School Board voted unanimously to name Tyler Turner as the next head football coach of the Sheridan Yellowjackets on Monday night following an extensive search. Turner, who has a record of turning around teams with a losing record, has an impressive record of 75-20 as a head coach.

He spoke with Deltaplex News on Tuesday to discuss that led him to take the job and more.

Turner said that the Pulaski County School District is working to get him released from his contract so he can come to Sheridan full time as quickly as possible, and that he plans on meeting with the current coaching staff and players on Wednesday.

Turner also spoke about what he would like to do on offense at Sheridan.

He also said he likes to attack on defense.

Turner said that Sheridan has some tough, gritty players, and his job is to make them believe they can go out and win, especially when it comes to being in close games.

Turner has had a lot of jobs as a coach and that has raised some concern in the Sheridan community. When asked about the different jobs he did not shy away from sharing why he has had those different jobs.

He also shared the message he plans on sharing with the coaches remaining on staff and the players once he meets them on Wednesday.
