UPDATE: The victim in Monday morning’s drowning incident has been identified as 80-year-old Willis Baker according to Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley.

Kelley said Baker’s body will be sent to the state crime lab to determine the official cause of death.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Jefferson County authorities are investigating a drowning that happened early Monday morning in the Hardin Community.

Sources tell Deltaplex News that an 80-year-old man was apparently walking from his shop to his house in the 2100 block of Cook Road when it is believed that he fell into a swimming pool and drowned. Emergency officials were alerted to the drowning at approximately 2:40 a.m.

The name of the victim nor any other information on the drowning has been released at this time.
